To the Editor,

On October 9, the Story Time kids from Pettee Memorial Library visited the Wilmington firehouse to learn about fire safety during Fire Prevention Week.

Lt. Bobby Maynard took us on a tour of the fire station and let us climb up in the fire trucks.

We got to see what a firefighter dressed up looks like, practiced “Stop, Drop and Roll” and learned this year’s theme: ”Every second counts, know two ways out!”

We finished our visit with a story read by Lt. Maynard’s daughter, Kyrrah. Natalie was a big help, too. Lt. Maynard gave us a special fire helmet and a coloring book all about fire safety. We had a great time!

Thank you so much, Lt. Maynard, Kyrrah, Natalie, and the Wilmington Fire Department.
