Michael Heller, the new principal at Readsboro Central School.
READSBORO- Michael Heller abruptly resigned as Readsboro Central School’s principal at a school board meeting on Monday, December 16. According to a letter sent to educators and staff at the school on Tuesday, December 17, Heller resigned to focus on health and family. The resignation letter was sent out a day after the school board meeting. Minutes from the meeting indicate no trace of a discussion on the matter among school officials, other than an unexplained 35-minute-long executive session at the end of the meeting. Heller had served as principal of the school for only 16 months, and was in the process of directing a school play to be performed that night. Heller’s letter said it was “with a heavy heart” that he was resigning, and he thanked them for a “wonderful year and a half.” An educator at the school said that the Readsboro School Board emailed all members of the school staff to say they would not be releasing any information at that time about Heller’s departure, due to legal reasons.
Windham Southwest Supervisory Union Superintendent Dick McClements could not be reached for public comment, nor were school board officials Karen Boisvert, Larry Hopkins, and Dana Rapp available for comment.
