To the Editor,

We are starting a brand new travel program this year at Twin Valley High School. At least nine students in French 3 and Advanced French are planning a 10-day trip to France in April 2014. The trip will include five days in Paris and a five-day home stay with a French family. This is a valuable educational experience and it’s also a first for our school.

The students and I feel that this is the opportunity of a lifetime and we’re so excited about the many benefits it will bring to our overall educational experience, including opportunities to: Experience another culture; forge deep international relationships; gain new perspectives on the world and ourselves; experience international travel; improve our decision-making and problem solving skills; and immerse ourselves in the French language and take the next step toward being multilingual, (which improves health and efficiency of our minds in other subjects as well).

We believe we’ll return with a wealth of new skills and experiences to share with the valley and our fellow students and be better prepared for our future as citizens or for higher educational opportunities. We want to go to France.

Because our school does not provide funding for this type of student activity, we are launching a massive fundraising campaign with a goal of raising $13,000 for this endeavor, which would cover half the cost per student.

Look for us on Facebook at “Twin Valley French travel abroad 2014” or visit our GoFundMe page at http: to donate. You can also send checks payable to TVHS French Trip Fundraiser to Twin Valley High School. 1 School Street, Wilmington, VT 05363. All contributions no matter how large or small will be greatly appreciated. For questions please call the school at (802) 464-5255 and ask for Jobi Dan’Sy.

Thanks so much for your support! Merci beaucoup!

Kevin Butler, on behalf of the students.
