DOVER- Award-winning Vermont author Rebecca Rupp is coming to the Dover Free Library Thursday, August 1, for two special events.

Rupp is the winner of several children’s book and adult book awards, including the 2012 Parents’ Choice Award for fiction and the Garden Writer’s association 2012 award for best book. She will read portions of her children’s book, “The Dragon of Lonely Island” as well as speak about her newest book, “After Eli,” which has been nominated for this year’s Dorothy Canfield Fischer Award in Vermont elementary schools. Following the free children’s pizza party and book signing at 5 pm, Rupp will speak at the library’s annual Dessert Social fundraiser, beginning at 7 pm. Her adult, award-winning book, “How Carrots Won the Trojan War,” will be the topic of interest and discussion. Desserts provided by various inns, restaurants, and novice chefs will be enjoyed following the discussion. Donations at this annual Dessert Social fundraising event are greatly appreciated.
