WILMINGTON- Bartleby’s Books is hosting a very special children’s storytime! Come be a part of the fun at the Give Stuff Away for Free Book Party with John Seven and Jana Christy on Saturday, March 9, at 2 pm. They will be sharing their new picture books, “A Year With Friends” and “A Rule Is to Break.”

All who attend are invited to bring a food donation for the Deerfield Valley Food Pantry and receive a signed print from John and Jana. Suggested food donations: Dried peas and lentils, healthy cereal and snacks, soups, and canned beans, tuna, sardines, salmon, fruits, and veggies.

Both books celebrate the whimsy and warmth of childhood. With gentle pastel illustrations in sequential panels, “A Year With Friends” teaches young readers about the seasons and the delightful ways they can be experienced. This beautifully formatted picture book takes young readers through every month of the year as a little boy, girl, dog, and cat celebrate each month with unique, playful images that convey what makes it special. ‘A Rule Is to Break” captures joy, the wonder of discovery, the spontaneity, and strong emotions.

Seven is a writer and newspaper editor. He began his career with the legendary ‘90s indie comic “Very Vicky,” which he started with his wife and creative partner, children’s book illustrator Christy. They live in Western Massachusetts with their two sons and a bunch of chickens. Seven and Christy’s previous collaboration “The Ocean Story,” won Creative Child magazine’s 2011 Creative Child Award Seal of Excellence and the 2012 Francis and Wesley Bock Book Award for Children’s Literature.

Join them for a reading, learn how to create comics, and following the example of their character Wild Child, experience the joy of giving things away. They will be signing books, too.

Bartleby’s Books is located at 17 West Main Street. For questions or to reserve books call (802) 464-5425, email bartbook@sover.net or visit online at myvermontbookstore.com.
