To the Editor:

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the DVCC in 2012.

We were very fortunate this year to be helped by those members of the Dover Propane Group who each sent in $50 to the DVCC. In addition, there were numerous residents and second-home owners who attended our fundraisers, organizations, and businesses in the valley who gave us some support. Every town within the valley now contributes to our fund to help cover the assistance that we give to members of their individual communities. Since we started the fund eight years ago, we have picked up a tremendous amount of support locally.

The end of the year brought us some large donations including $1,000 from the town of Dover and $1,000 from the Marlboro Alliance. Russ and Carol Weber, very generous second-home owners who have helped us over the years, recently kicked in a contribution of $8,000 for this winter. We even got a cash donation of $680 from the accumulated pot proceeds of a local poker group.

We are spending in the range of $50,000 each winter to help your neighbors keep their homes warm. It does not take long to spend that much money, and we cannot thank all of you enough for the support you have given us. We are so grateful for your help and we wish each one of you a very happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.
