To the Editor:

On December 12, Memorial Hall was bustling with the creative energy and excitement of more than 70 enthusiastic children at the second annual Santa’s Workshop organized by Pettee Memorial Library and co-sponsored by DVES Wings Program and our Friends of the Library. Ten different craft stations plus a card-making table and gift wrapping area were set up in for children of all ages to create gifts, decorations, and ornaments for the holiday season. During the hot dog luncheon provided by the library, children and teenagers were entertained by guest reader, town manager Scott Murphy as he read a favorite book.

Many thanks to all parents, grandparents, and caregivers for transporting and supervising the children during this glorious event. Many thanks to those who sponsored craft stations and volunteered throughout the afternoon. This event would not have been so grand if not for the folks who pitched in when help was needed. Special thanks to those behind the scene: McKinley Tree Farm for greens, Mount Snow Chamber of Commerce for lending the tables, the Reardons for white birch logs, Gary DeBarba for tranforming the logs into Yule logs, Tine Krampetz and Carol DeBarba for baking treats, and Carlotta Gladding for her invaluable support and knowledge of Memorial Hall.

Santa’s Workshop was incredibly successful and Memorial Hall was the perfect venue. Children and adults are already talking about next year’s event!
