To the Editor:

I am about to finish my 10th and final year as Vermont State Senator. As one of my last services in this role, I feel compelled to ask, to urge, Vermonters to vote for Beth Pearce for state treasurer this November. I write this letter not only as senator, but as a taxpayer and resident concerned for the well being of our state.

I have seen Beth in action and worked with her on economic development, and I say without reservations there is no one better suited for this position.

The role of treasurer is not a political one. It is a delicate position that demands scrutiny and professionalism and ought to be decided based on merit and merit alone. Beth’s experience and track record in state finance are unparalleled.

In her time as both deputy and state treasurer, Beth has formed valuable work relationships with Democrats, Republicans, and Progressives alike. Her approach to the treasurer’s office defies political, ideological boundaries and cuts to the heart of what Vermonters need, local investment, clean energy, and a strong bond rating. When Irene hit, Beth made smart decisions that allowed towns to get the tools they needed to repair. She runs as a Democrat, but she answers to the taxpayers.

If there is one state politician we need to support this election, it is Beth Pearce.

I believe in the work she does, and I say in all earnestness that we, as Vermonters, very much need Beth to continue her work as treasurer. She is one of the most important, hardworking people working in the state. Please join me in voting for Beth Pearce for treasurer this election.

State Senator Hinda Miller
