Housetop performs a lively, quirky mix of swingy, bluesy, old-time American music. In the irreverent spirit of vaudeville, Naomi Morse, Erica Morse, Anna Patton, and Peter Siegel make songs from the ‘30s and ‘40s their own, along with jug band tunes; songs from Bob Wills, Dan Hicks, the Roches and others; raggy fiddle tunes; and their own originals.
Siegel, well known as a songwriter and space-age vaudevillian, contributes his chunking, bluesy, archtop guitar rhythm and his enviable high tenor voice. Erica drives the low end on the upright bass, while crooning in an inimitable sisterly blend with Naomi, renowned for her strong, fiery fiddling. Patton rounds out the quartet, harmonizing with her smooth alto and deftly swinging on the clarinet.
