A potluck supper is a good example of how people come together in the spirit of community and sharing. An even better example of community and sharing was the outpouring of help and support after Irene. Many of us started out as strangers and ended up as friends. There were also so many who contributed but whom we never got a chance to meet.
On Sunday, August 26, there will be a potluck supper so that people can reconnect in that spirit of community and sharing.
All are encouraged to attend, residents of the entire valley, people who came from outside of the area, anyone who would like to join in. The place is Deerfield Valley Elementary School on Route 100N in Wilmington. Children’s games will be from 3:30 to 4:30 pm, the dinner will start about 4:30 to about 6 and after 6 there will be a slide show and music. To spread out the responsibilities a little, we are asking that if your name starts with A to G bring a main dish, H to N a salad, 0 to U a side dish, and V to Z is bread or rolls. We will have plates and utensils, desserts, and beverages.
Many people have experienced many bad things in the past year but one positive thing was the connections that were made. This potluck is to celebrate and reinforce those connections. We’d love to see this be the biggest potluck this valley has ever seen. So, spread the word and bring your family and friends, bring a favorite recipe and “Come to the Table.” We will be happy to see you.
See you on the 26th.
