WARDSBORO- The Red Barn Affair on Saturday, August 11, from 5 to 7:30 pm, will be held in the Wardsboro Library’s big red barn at 170 Main Street, and will have something for everyone to enjoy. Two summers ago, the evening cocktail party and silent auction known as “The Red Barn Affair” was the talk of the town for weeks afterward and this year’s reprise of the party promises to be as well-attended and exciting. The proceeds from the event will help support the town’s library and capital campaign to expand library space into the barn. The event will take place rain or shine.

The Red Barn Affair is a cocktail party, with hors d’oeuvres and desserts, live music, door prizes, a valuable raffle, and a silent auction. Bidding will begin at 5 pm. Some of the most coveted auction items, all donated by area businesses and individuals to help the friends meet their annual fundraising goals, include gift certificates for area restaurants; pottery, jewelry, quilts, decorative pillows, and table décor, all hand-crafted; framed paintings, prints, and photography; antiques; Mount Snow and Stratton Resort ski tickets and golf green fees; a hand-painted skateboard by Skip Morrow; a catered Swiss fondue party; and even an overnight stay at a bed and breakfast in Newport, RI. Guests can take a chance on winning a new 10 foot kayak. The winner of the raffle will be drawn after the silent auction bidding closes at 7 pm.

Throughout the evening, everyone will be entertained by the popular duo Hungrytown, of Townshend. Ken Anderson and Rebecca Hall tour extensively and have released two CDs that have received high critical acclaim and airplay in North America, Europe, and Australia.

Tickets for The Red Barn Affair are $12 per person and include a complimentary soft drink or coffee, appetizers and desserts, and a free door prize ticket. The cash bar will serve beer and wine from 5 to 7:30 pm. Event tickets are on sale at the library and at the door. To reserve tickets call (802) 896-3416 or email info@friendsofwardsborolibrary.org.
