Mrs. Clark was born on April 22, 1940. She had a wonderful childhood growing up with her parents Maximilian and Margaret in New York City. She moved to Valley Stream, Long Island, with her family when she was in high school. She graduated in 1957.
On August 26, 1967, she married John H. Clark, of Weston, MA. After living in Valley Stream for one year, the couple bought School #5 in Whitingham, VT. She often told stories of her first winter at the schoolhouse and how cold and homesick she was. Her three children were born in Vermont and in 1980 they moved to Hinsdale. Even though she came to love both Vermont and New Hampshire, she loved going back on visits to the “Big Apple.”
Before moving to Vermont, Mrs. Clark had worked for over 10 years in New York City. For the past 31 years, she had worked in the special education department at Brattleboro Union High School. Also, in 1984 she and her husband started Clark Landscaping.
Mrs. Clark loved being outdoors, enjoyed working in her flower gardens, and loved to travel. Every Christmas season, she worked with her husband and son making and decorating balsam Christmas wreaths. Mrs. Clark especially enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and friends.
Mrs. Clark is survived by her three children, Kevin and his wife Sharon, of Nottingham, Michael and his wife Sally, of Greenfield, MA, and Kristen, of Hinsdale. Her only grandchild Jack, son of Michael and Sally, brought great joy into her life. She was predeceased by her husband in 2006.
A celebration of Mrs. Clark’s life will be held at her home on Saturday, July 21, beginning at 6 pm, with remembrances at 6:45. All are invited to attend. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Oncology Department at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, 17 Belmont Avenue, Brattleboro, VT 05301.
