Blacksmithing is one of the activities offered at a new summer camp.
Grafton Ponds is known for its summer weeklong day camps for kids age 5 through 16. Now Big Kids Camps will be offered in conjunction with kids summer camps, which run through August 3.
Big Kids Camps are offered to adults Tuesday through Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm and include mountain biking, swimming, canoe trips, hiking, biathlon, low ropes course, and blacksmithing. They will be led by Grafton Ponds Director Bill Salmon who recognizes the need for adults to have fun in the summer, too. He led similar camps in Smugglers Notch during his tenure with the popular Vermont resort.
“Every year when we have summer camp, not a day goes by when a parent mentions, ‘I wish I could go to summer camp too,’ so we finally decided to create a program for them,” said Bill Salmon, Grafton Ponds director. “The three-day camps give adults a taste of the fun summer life that kids experience. We’ve already seen a lot of interest for it just by word of mouth.”
