We would like to extend our overdue sincere thanks to the many neighbors, friends, and community members of the Deerfield Valley who were there for us with their support, help, and concern throughout the past 10 months in our recovery from Tropical Storm Irene. We lost our home of 23 years in Wardsboro. A truly devastating and humbling experience. We have just recently moved into Jamaica, where we bought a new home. It’s been a long difficult 10 months, but we are so happy to be moving forward, though we still have a way to go. We were so fortunate to have lived in the Deerfield Valley, where the help was so forthcoming.
There are so many people and organizations that came to our aid, including some complete strangers. We tried to thank everyone individually and it would be hard to list them all.
We are especially grateful to Wardsboro Fire and Rescue who literally rescued us, The Wardsboro Yoked Parish, the Deerfield Valley Rotary and Lions clubs, the Stratton Foundation, the Human Web; the list would go on and on if we were to try to name you all.
So, to all of you who helped us in any way, we say thank you, we are forever grateful.
Sincerely,
Vera and Dennis Gervais and family
Wardsboro/Jamaica
