PUTNEY - Twilight Music presents an evening of Celtic rock and traditional Irish music by Vermont-based bands Prydein and McCliment’s Irish House Band at Next Stage on Saturday, April 7, at 7:30 pm. Rooted in tradition with two highland bagpipes while featuring a contemporary rock sound with a guitar/bass/drums rhythm section, Prydein delivers a high energy performance for young and old alike. Fiddler Randy Miller and guitarist Roger Kahle, who have hosted the Wednesday night Irish session at J.D. McCliment’s Pub in Putney for the past three years, and multiinstrumentalist Ross Kahle will open the show.

By mixing traditional Celtic repertoire with a rock music sensibility, Prydein has created a unique sound that has propelled the band to the national stage. Whether it’s called Celtic rock, kilt rock, bagpipe rock, Scottish rock, or maybe sham-rock, any way it’s called Aron Garceau (guitar, vocals), Iain MacHarg (highland bagpipes, flutes, tin whistles), Dan Houghton (highland bagpipes, flutes, tin whistles, bouzouki, mandolin, vocals), Andy Smith (bass, vocals) and Caleb Bronz (drums) call it fun.

Veteran Irish session musicians Randy Miller, Roger Kahle, and Ross Kahle have played traditional Celtic music throughout the United States and Europe. Miller mixes Irish, Cape Breton, and Celtic fiddle styles with his own ornamentation and bowing techniques, accompanied by Roger’s rhythm guitar and Ross’ bodhran, tin whistles and four-string Irish style banjo.
