Charlotte, NC- Norman Gregg Swentor died Friday, September 3, with his family by his side.
Mr. Swentor was born October 15, 1927, in Providence, RI, to August and Edna Swentor and is predeceased by his father, mother and three brothers, whom we are sure are all fly fishing together again. He was a graduate of Babson College, MA.
Mr. Swentor spent many happy years in Wilmington, VT, from 1967 through 1975. The Swentor family resided in the white house now behind the new Rite Aid Pharmacy, off Country Club Road.
He was active in the creation of Chimney Hill. He was a member and deacon of the St. Mary’s in the Mountains Episcopal Church, was a member of the Wilmington School Board, was very active in many of Wilmington’s civic and governmental organizations, and with various charities and club sporting events.
Mr. Swentor is survived by his two sons, Gregg Douglas Swentor and David Bruce Swentor, his daughter Kimberly Swentor Millican, their spouses, and his five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held, Saturday, September 25, at Waterside Cemetery, in Marblehead, MA. The family will be in Wilmington before that date to spread his remains near one of his favorite spots, Harriman Reservoir.
