To the Editor:

This letter is to inform you that with deep regret I need to resign from the Searsburg School Board. I have enjoyed the many years that I have been on the school board and the people I served with. Thank you to all the ladies at the supervisory union for all of your help during the time I was on the board.

The reason for my resignation is that I cannot be on the school board and substitute at the schools without a letter from the commissioner of education. The superintendent Dr. John Rizio, has said that he does not feel it necessary to write such a letter because “WSSU is able to hire additional qualified personnel” and so that is why I need to decide between the two. Well, family comes first, so I have chosen to substitute teach, one because I enjoy the kids and staff and two for income coming into the household.

I have spoken with Lisa Munsill and she is interested in coming to the August meeting and being on the board until March 2011 elections. She currently has children that are attending school, so I feel she would be great to have on the school board.

Again, I really enjoyed my time on the board, but family comes first in my book and that is how it is always going to be. I will still attend meetings, but be the one in the audience that will be giving you the questions.
