September 5: The Newfane Business Association presents the “Concerts on the Common” in Newfane. Closing the series on Sunday, from 5 to 8 pm, will be Gene Morrison and Kelly Stand, playing a wide array of down-home Vermont bluegrass music. Morrison performs with a humble shyness of spirit juxtaposed by a smiling guttural laugh that expresses his love of music. A complete old-fashioned country barbecue will be available. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. In case of rain, the performance will be moved into the Union Hall.
