On behalf of the Historical Society of Wilmington I would like to thank Will Melton, son-in-law of Alice Newton Smith, for the very interesting presentation about the Newton brothers following our annual meeting last week. The presentation was a big hit with great photos.
The following slate of officers was elected during the annual meeting: President - third term, Julie Moore; Vice President - second term, Sally Gore; Treasurer - second term, Diane Chapman: Secretary - second term, after several previous years as well, Pat Morris; Trustees - second term, Pete Adams, Bob Greene, and newly-elected trustees Tina Pike and Larry Chase; House chairman - newly-elected Lenny Chapman.
The society holds their monthly presentations and meetings on the first Wednesday of the month, April to November, at 7 pm, unless otherwise posted. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Please don’t forget to pick up one of the 1950 Guy Hawkins Old Home Week address books the society has just put out thanks to the generous donation made by Al and Sue Wurzberger. The books may be purchased at the historical society museum, 1836 Country Store, Norton House, Bartleby’s Books, or the Country Gift Outlet.
