Many times in the past I’ve thought I might write a letter to the editor to respond to something that has irked me or complain about some minor annoyance. I’m glad that it is the positive excitment of the OHW celebrations that has given me the push to put fingers to keyboard.
From start to finish it seems to me that the whole event was nothing but a success. From the ice cream social on Friday night right through to the Historical Society’s pancake breakfast on Sunday morning. Not only did OHW manage to bring back long lost members of our community, some of whom hadn’t been here in 20 years, it also managed to unite our community in a way that some of us had become to feel might be a thing of the past.
Saturday’s parade was something to behold. Young and old alike gathered, as did friends and family from Halifax all the way to Wardsboro, lining the street to watch and cheer and enjoy the sense of belonging. Kudos to all those who should be feeling relief and pride at a job well done. Thank you to all of you who gave of your time and talents. I’m not afraid to say I thoroughly enjoyed the whole shindig and can’t wait for October to jump in to the Dover Bicentennial celebrations with both feet.
Glad to be in Wilmington,
