WILMINGTON –The Best Seat in Vermont Committee will host a Buddy Chair Teddy Bear Tea on Sunday, September 5, from 2 to 4 pm, Labor Day weekend, at the Deerfield Valley Elementary School. Bring a favorite little stuffed friend to try out the chairs, enjoy a cup of iced tea or lemonade, and cookies.Take some time to play on the swings and slides and enjoy games and entertainment. Also bid on the buddy chairs. This event is going to be held rain or shine and will move indoors if needed.

Local schools have been sponsored by various individuals and businesses within the community to decorate doll-size chairs. Thirty-five Buddy Chairs have been placed throughout the Deerfield Valley, and can be acquired by a season-long silent auction. Bidding ends Saturday, October 9, Columbus Day weekend, at Memorial Hall. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be returned to the schools’ arts programs.

Best Seat in Vermont wooden Adirondack loveseats have been sponsored by patrons of the arts, the chamber, local businesses, organizations, and families. Painted by local area artists, these benches are on display in Wilmington, Jacksonville, and Dover along routes 9 and 100, in Bennington, and at the Guilford Welcome Center throughout the summer and foliage seasons, culminating in an October 9 auction event at the Grand Summit Resort and Conference Center at Mount Snow. Proceeds from that event will benefit Deerfield Valley Community Cares, the Deerfield Valley Food Pantry, Make-a-Wish of Vermont, the Guy Hawkins Fund, local school arts programs, and future valleywide events and marketing.
