PUTNEY — Twilight Music continues its eighth annual Twilight on the Tavern Lawn series of folk, world beat, funk, blues, jazz, zydeco, Celtic, swing and bluegrass summer concerts on Friday, June 25, with Samirah Evans and Her Handsome Devils. The seven-concert series continues every other Friday through September 3. All concerts begin at 6:30 pm in downtown Putney on the Putney Tavern lawn (bring a lawn chair or blanket) or at The United Church of Putney (15 Kimball Hill) in case of rain. The series is sponsored by the town of Putney, Soundesign Recording Studio, Putney Food Co-Op, The Stockwell Brothers, and many other Putney businesses and organizations. The concerts are free to the public (donations are accepted) and food will be available. For information visit www.twilightmusic.org or call (802) 387-5772.

Samirah Evans and Her Handsome Devils play a mix of soulful, sultry jazz and blues sprinkled with a little New Orleans spice. Evans formed her electrifying band in 2009 just in time for the release of her second CD “My Little Bodhisattva,” which was recorded in New Orleans. A year later, Samirah Evans and Her Handsome Devils have earned a regional following performing lively arrangements of jazz and blues standards and originals from the Berkshires to Boston. The band, which features Michael Zsoldos on saxophone, Jason Ennis on guitar, Miro Sprague on piano, Michael O’Brien on bass, and Connor Meehan on drums, complements Evans’ style perfectly. They plan to release a new live performance CD and DVD, “Hot Club,” in the fall of 2010.
