NORTH BENNINGTON- Vermont Arts Exchange (VAE) welcomes The Alash Ensemble, award-winning native Tuvan throat singers, back to its Basement Music Series for a mesmerizing all-ages family show on Sunday, May 2, at 2 pm.

An annual VAE Basement Music Series favorite, Alash — which takes its name from a local river in their native Tuva, a small, autonomous Russian Republic in eastern Siberia, bordering Mongolia — was founded in 1999 in the basement of the Kyzyl Arts College in Tuva’s capital city. Launched from these humble beginnings, the group has capitulated to award-winning acclaim and international fame. Advance tickets for this Basement Music Series concert are $15 for adults and $10 for students through Brown Paper Tickets, the first and only fair-trade ticketing company, at www.brownpapertickets.com or www.vtartxchange.org, or by calling (800) 838-3006. Day-of-show tickets are $22 for adults and $12 for students at the door. Children under 5 are admitted to the performance at no charge.

Join VAE for this and the final concert in VAE’s 2010 Basement Music Series season: Ethan Lipton and his Orchestra on May 8. For more information about Vermont Arts Exchange, the Basement Music Series, exhibits and classes and workshops, contact VAE at (802) 442-5549 or visit www.vtartxchange.org.
