To the Editor:

Spring has arrived and with it the 40th annual Vermont Green Up Day.

The first Saturday in May many towns throughout Vermont will receive a spring cleaning. Jacksonville and Whitingham volunteers should meet at the Town Hill playground Saturday, May 1, between 9 and 10 am to select an area to green up.

This community event is a great family activity. It not only introduces you to your neighbors and townspeople but also teaches children to take pride in their town.

We will kickoff the day with doughnuts and coffee generously donated by the Jacksonville Store.

After the hard work of green up volunteers will enjoy a barbecue lunch provided by the Whitingham Country Store and prepared by the Lions Club. Garbage bags will be provided.

Volunteers should dress in work clothes and bring gloves.

If you would like to contribute a breakfast baked good or lunch dessert it would be welcomed. Please call Todd Wahlstrom or me at (802) 368-2807 for more information or to suggest areas in need of greening up.
