Leesburg, FL- Robert Stephen Filler, 69, died Thursday, March 18, of natural causes in his home. Born in Manchester, CT, on September 28, 1940, he was the son of the late Charles P. and Betty Filler.

Mr. Filler was a graduate of Manchester High, Manchester, CT (1958), Central Connecticut State College (BS Industrial Education, 1966), and University of Massachusetts Amherst (MS Wood Science/Engineering, 1972). He attended numerous other schools around the country, including Disney University, throughout his life. His first teaching job was in the Enfield public schools in Enfield, CT. He then moved to Wilmington, VT to finish his second teaching job in Wilmington public schools.

Mr. Filler was a longtime resident of Whitingham, VT before moving to Leesburg, where he completed his teaching career and had a fulfilling retirement. During the summer months while he was teaching, he held numerous jobs with Pure Science, writing curriculums at both the local and national level.

Mr. Filler served five honorable years in the United States Marine Corps, from 1958 to 1963. He enjoyed the outdoors; he loved to fish, camp, and go boating.

Mr. Filler was the proud father of Lance Stephen Filler and Deborah Lynn Bolognani, and even prouder grandfather of Ryan and Eric Filler, and Jessica and Stephen Bolognani. He was predeceased by his sister Gloria H. Paul and granddaughter Jessica Bolognani.

Per his request, there will be no service for Robert S. Filler. He will be laid to rest in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
