This past Saturday night I found myself enjoying a classic comedy film at Memorial Hall in the company of neighbors. The quality of the picture on the large screen was impressive and equaled or surpassed the typical movie theater experience. And the popcorn and snacks were an added attraction. As a recent convert to NetFlix, I had forgotten what a pleasure it is to be surrounded by laughter in a community setting.
The Memorial Hall Board will be showing classic films at the hall every Saturday at 7 pm through April. I understand that this coming Saturday is the 1959 comedy “Some Like It Hot,” starring Tony Curtis, Marilyn Monroe, and Jack Lemmon. This hilarious film has gangsters and an all-female musical band that includes two men disguised as women in order to evade the mobsters.
You can’t beat it for an affordable night out – admission is free and even the price of popcorn is a bargain. I highly recommend that you take advantage of this opportunity – and bring your friends along. You won’t regret it.
