On Saturday, February 27, from 4 to 6 pm, artist Debora Coombs and guest Michael Oatman host a studio visit and talk, Stained Glass for an Astronaut, at Coombs’ studio. Visitors will see a work in progress on a window featuring a dozen raccoons scavenging electronics and building creatures and objects of unknown purpose. Designed by New York artist Oatman, the window will be installed in an Airstream trailer, a 30-foot-long camper, circa 1972, that has been transformed into a homemade satellite. Oatman’s permanent installation All Utopias Fell, opens this coming summer at MASS MoCA. Keep looking up.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Suggested donation is $15. Refreshments will be served. All proceeds support future Readsboro Arts events and workshops. Contact Mary Angus at (802) 423-7706 to register for the Stained Glass for an Astronaut studio visit.
The next ArtsMeet workshop, Fabric Collage, with fiber artist Norma Abel, will be held on March 7, from 1 to 4 pm. Upcoming workshops include Sandblasting Glass at Readsboro Glassworks on April 10, Pressed Flower Art with Wilmington artist Ellie Roden on June 4, and Watercolor Holiday Cards with artist Jane May Jones, October 30.
