READSBORO- The second annual Hoot, Toot, & Whistle 5K snowshoe race and hike will be Saturday, January 23, at 10 am, at the

Catamount Trail.

Participants will run along the Deerfield River on the old Hoosac Tunnel and Wilmington rail bed on a portion of the 300-mile Catamount Trail, which extends from Readsboro to Canada. It is a gentle singletrack grade. Requirements include a minimum snowshoe size of 120 square inch surface. There will be a limited number of loaner shoes available. Call to reserve them. There will be no aid stations so bring along water.

Registration will be at the Readsboro Inn on Main Street, from 8:45 to 9:45 am. A bus will be available for transport from parking to the start area. Entry fee is $15. Those 65 and older or under 18 are free. All proceeds will benefit the E.J. Bullock Building Restoration Fund.

The Readsboro Inn will provide hot cocoa and coffee and there will be a “Hoot, Toot and Whistle” lunch menu to buy lunch. Many prizes furnished by local individuals and businesses and Dion Snowshoes will be awarded.
