Another Vermonter finishes third in first of five qualifiers

COPPER MOUNTAIN, CO- Two-time Olympian and gold medalist Kelly Clark, Mount Snow, VT,, along with Olympian Shaun White, Carlsbab, CA, won the first of five Olympic qualification events on Saturday, December 12.

Clark took first place in finals of the US Snowboarding Grand Prix. Soko Yamaoka, Japan, came in second and Hannah Teter, Belmont, VT, finished third.

The female and male riders who have performed above all others in point accumulation in the 22-foot superpipe events will earn a position representing the United States at the 2010 Olympic games.

The next Grand Prix events will be held at Mammoth Mountain, CA, on January 4 to 10. Clark and the entire US Snowboard Team will be training so that the best of the best will be ready for Vancouver.
