Wilmington - Stephen Bissette and Joe Citro present their new book, “The Vermont Monster Guide,” on Saturday, December 12, at 7 pm at Bartleby’s Books.

Though not widely acknowledged, the Green Mountain State is home to more winged wonders, wet weirdoes, and crypto creatures than any other state in the country. Champ is known as the elusive monster of Lake Champlain, but what about Northfield’s “Pigman” and Richford’s “The Awful”?

Designed as both a cautionary tale and handy field manual for those who dare, “The Vermont Monster Guide” will be of interest to natives and tourists, young or old, though it may not be suitable for readers with fragile constitutions.

Citro, respected monster hunter, brings to light over 60 Vermont monsters, captured in exquisite, ghoulish detail by the pen, brush, and ink of longtime local artist Stephen Bissette. The authors’ previous collaboration, “The Vermont Ghost Guide,” is a popular favorite and the perfect companion to this volume.

Bartleby’s Books is now located at 17 West Main Street in downtown Wilmington. Call (802) 464-5425 or bartbook@sover.net for more information or visit www.bartlebysvt.com.
