BENNINGTON- Betty Ann Ghiazza, 70, a resident of The Village of Fillmore Pond, died on Tuesday morning, November 25. Mrs. Ghiazza was born in Mt. Kisco, NY on August 19, 1939, the daughter of the late Claudio and Ruth (Barrett) Cascioli. She was a graduate of Foxlane High School in Bedford, NY. Mrs. Ghiazza was the widow of Edward John Ghiazza Sr. who died on November 7, 2004. Mrs. Ghiazza has been employed as a secretary for the Parks and Recreation Department in Briarcliff Manor, NY, was a receptionist at the Allstate Insurance Office in Nanuet, NY, and as a job coach at Camp Jawanio in New City, NY. Mrs. Ghiazza had been active in the Rotary Club in New City, NY, and was a Paul Harris Fellow.

Mrs. Ghiazza was a communicant of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. She enjoyed reading, traveling throughout the country, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a former volunteer with the Girl Scouts, and PTA member. While living in North Carolina, Mrs. Ghiazza had been a Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Church, Pinehurst, NC. She had also taught CCD, and was a member of the Ladies Guild. She had previously lived in West Nyack, NY, South Yarmouth, MA, and Whispering Pines, NC.

Mrs. Ghiazza is survived by her children, Edward John Jr. and his wife Frances of Broomfield, CO, Michael Ghiazza, of Southern Pines, NC, Geralyn and Mark Sniatkowski of East Dover, and Patricia and John Klenk, of Pittsford, NY. She leaves her grandchildren, Jackie, Kristen, Kelly, Mary, Owen, Adam, Jack Matthew, and William. She leaves two brothers, Arthur Cascioli and Albert Cascioli, and two sisters, Anita Warholy and Jeanette Ceasrina. Mrs. Ghiazza was predeceased by four brothers, Stanley, Fuime, Aldo, and Claude, and her sister Edna Cassall.

A prayer service was offered on Thursday morning, December 3, at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street in Bennington followed by a Mass of Christian Death and Burial at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. Transfer will take place to the Boles Funeral Home in Pinehurst, NC, where the burial will take place in the family lot in Pinelawn Memorial Cemetery.
