Mrs. Staib was born July 8, 1925 in North Hyde Park, VT, the daughter of Harley and Agnes Hodges. Mrs. Staib was a retired nurse of 17 years, having worked at the Vermont Sate Hospital. She was a faithful member of the North Hyde Park Congregational Church and a member of the O.E.S. She loved growing flowers, knitting, needlework and reading.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Staib of Lecanto and Wilmington, VT; two sons, Carl (Patricia) Spear, of Cocoa Beach,, and Bill Spear, of Morrisville, VT; a son-in law, James O’Hare, of Newton, MA; daughters Delight (Dan) Sullivan, of Helena, MT, Priscilla Lanpher, of Morrisville, VT, and Gail Noble, of Fairbanks, AK; one sister, Iona Hodges, of Morrisville, VT; stepdaughters Heidi Taylor and Gretchen Havreluk and stepson Ralph Staib, of Wilmington, VT; 20 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Staib was preceded in death by her stepbrother, Leonard Kane of Rutland, VT, and by her daughter, Claudia O’Hare of Duxbury, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the North Hyde Park Congregational Church, c/o Anne Atherton, P.O. Box 1256, Morrisville, VT 05661.
A memorial service will be held at the North Hyde Park Congregational Church in July of next year.
