MIDLAND CITY, AL- W. Alice Johnson died Wednesday, October 14, at her residence. She was 84.

Mrs. Johnson was born November 7, 1924, as Wilhamenia Alice Godfrey in Houston County and she resided during the early years of her life in Dothan. She resided in East Dover, VT, for over 30 years and was married to Ronald C. Johnson. Mr. Johnson died in 1999.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the East Dover Bapist Church, the East Dover Ladies Aid, and a local sewing club. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed attending many local card parties. Mrs. Johnson had been employed by the town of Dover as secretary to the Town Manager prior to moving to Midland City in 1974. Mrs. Johnson was employed with the Boys Detention Center in Ozark, AL, for several years. She was a member of Rainbow Meadows Baptist Church. She leaves her son, Ron Johnson and his wife Cathy, of Midland City; five grandchildren, Heather Grantham, Adam Johnson, Timothy Williams Jr., Carl Allen, and Cody Allen; two great-grandchildren, Riley Grantham and Kieran Grantham; two sisters, Betty Shirley, of South Carolina, and Linnie Carpenter, of Dothan; nieces, Dorothy Clark, of Dover, VT, Sheila Lowe, of Jamaica, VT, and Effie Chamberlain of Townshend, VT; nephews, Phillip, Steven, and Warren Bartlett, Michael, Kevin, and Eddie Hescock, all of Dover, VT; Doug and Robert Jalbert, of Newfane, VT, and Raymond Johnson.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 16, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Don Clark officiating. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Park, with Robert Byrd directing. The Sunset Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
