WARDSBORO- Eleanor P. Schwippert, 86, of West Wardsboro, passed away Monday, October 12, at Springfield Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of Stanley and Anna Szuminski. Mrs. Schwippert graduated from Kensington High School in Buffalo. She married Walter Schwippert, her childhood sweetheart, in August 1946.

Mrs. Schwippert raised three children and worked at the family-owned tavern untill she and Mr. Schwippert moved to West Dover in 1976. For several years she performed housekeeping at the Nordic Hills Inn and at the Inn at Sawmill Farm. Later she and Mr. Schwippert worked together at the Stratton Mountain Inn.

In her spare time, Mrs.Schwippert loved to sew, and make quilts for her family and friends. She leaves her husband of 63 years; two sons, Paul and his wife Diane, of Stratton, and Carl, of West Wardsboro; daughter Karen and her husband Nick Pizzuto, of Buffalo, NY; six grandchildren, three sisters, and many nieces and nephews.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours of funeral services. A private Mass for family is scheduled for a later date.
