To The Editor:

We are happy to report that the Blueberry Hike on Sunday, August 9, at the Hermitage Inn raised $600 for the Guy Hawkins Cancer Fund.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Steve and Laura at the Hermitage Inn for supporting our effort by allowing us to meet there, walk the trail, and then offer their terrace for a continental breakfast after the hike.

We are so grateful to Doris Horton for making the blueberry costumes we wore during the parade on Saturday. We were a big hit!

To the hikers and sponsors we extend our gratitude for your enthusiastic support of our effort to give back to the fund that has, over the years, helped so many families in this valley cope with a cancer crisis. We raised that amount of money with 14 hikers. Imagine what we can accomplish next year if 100 people participate!
