CARDRONA, NEW ZEALAND- Olympic gold medalist and 2008-09 TTR World Snowboard Champion Kelly Clark, of West Dover, VT, dropped in for her season’s first gold medal at the Burton Superpipe Open.

Clark put down a 12-foot frontside air, backside 540 indy, frontside 720 tailgrab, cab 720, to frontside 540 indy to win.

Of the 63 international female competitors, Clark was the only United States team member to place in the top five positions.

Jiayu Lui, of China, placed second and Zhifeng Sun, also of China placed third.

For Clark, this is the first step toward perfecting her tricks and earning a spot on the U.S. Olympic team for 2010.
