WEST DOVER- In celebration of 150 years of ministry to the community, the West Dover Congregational Church invites the public to a concert of global village jazz performed by The Oikos Ensemble, on Sunday, October 12, at 3 pm.

The Oikos Ensemble is a consortium of musicians celebrating stories of transformation and enlightenment from around the world. Transcending stylistic musical boundaries, Oikos paints vibrant soundscapes with the brush stroke of jazz improvisation.

Blending its unique style of world music jazz with storytelling, dance, and multimedia, Oikos has appeared at more than 60 churches from coast to coast, performed for the Church World Service, Intersections International, UCC General Synod, conferences, and festivals.

Clifford Aerie, saxophonist and leader of Oikos, is an ordained minister. He is the minister of special events, creativity, and the arts for the national office of the United Church in Cleveland, OH, where he directs Ministry of Imagination, Creativity, and the Arts. Aerie has been leading jazz worship for more than 30 years and has developed a unique liturgy based on the spiritual musicianship of jazz legend John Coltrane.

Pianist and composer Dr. Christopher Bakriges, co-leader of Oikos, is an ethnomusicologist at Elms College in Chicopee, MA.

Suggested donation is $15. For more information call (802) 464-5052.
