To the Editor:

In the next few weeks the Twin Valley Board and the Facilities Committee will be presenting three options for a high school facility solution to the community.

In past attempts to bring a bond vote to the community it appears that the voters were frustrated by the lack of choices available to them regarding which school facility design became the final choice for a bond vote.

The school board and facilities committee is taking a different approach this time. For the first time, the community will determine which option eventually goes to a bond vote by voting for their preferred option on November 4.

The school board will be sending out an informational packet on the three options to all Wilmington and Whitingham residents as well as posting this information and additional information on the Web site at www.tvfacilities.org

There will be two community meetings on Wednesday, October 15, at the Twin Valley Middle School at 7 pm and Monday, October 27, at the Twin Valley High School at 7 pm.

There are economic uncertainties and uncertainties about the Wilmington reappraisal. We must continue to watch and see how these issues unfold. For now, all we are asking from the community is to give us a clear direction by selecting which option they favor most.

What we are presenting here are general concepts and general costs. Both of these need to be refined so that we come up with the best long-term and cost-efficient solution for our high school. At present there are design elements and construction methods that we may want to change to lower the cost and arrive upon a more economical design. But we need the voters to give us an option that we can commit to before we spend the energy and funds to value engineer a final option.

Your voice matters. Please come to our meetings and get the information you need to make the best choice for our community.

Phil Taylor, chairman of Twin Valley Facilities Committee
