Who is Spencer Potter? Spencer Potter is the man in charge of the Readsboro Town mass appraisal. He is the one most Readsboro taxpayers are mad as hell at. He has brought northern prices to Readsboro.
At the special meeting on June 12 he stated that he had used past sales to determine the new appraisals, however the appraisals were “his opinion.” If you didn’t agree then you could grieve it to the town listers. The citizens and taxpayers of Readsboro better believe he is lying! When asked Friday night if he had taken into consideration the present economy, lack of sales, people losing jobs, etc., he replied after a few seconds of thought, “yes we did.” Sure he did! That’s why my apprasisal quadrupled on my house, which they went through and the land that they never visited.
At the board of listers grievance hearing, who is there but Spencer Potter. And he led the meeting. The board of listers were silent throughout! Is he going to admit his opinion is wrong even though I submitted proof of prior sales?
Beware taxpayers, his opinion is fact. And if you don’t believe me, appeal and see! The Secretary of State’s office was contacted and the only way to stop this nonsense is to pressure the selectboard to rescind his contract.
Readsboro will soon be going from a mill town to a ghost town if he has his way.
Send him and his opinion north, where he came from.

and the living wasn't bad at all. from what i think is funny is that the appraisal for my house went from 40 thousand to 270 thousand WTF! its a very old house as many of them are in Readsboro and the repair bill just might cost that much. what this guy is doing is crazy and we don't have to pay for it.
I like to stand up one day and tell everyone to stop bickering and if they don't get out!
