To the Editor:

An open letter to Deborah Stewart Canady:

Dear Deborah,

I was at the listers meeting and I heard your heart-felt plea and warning of us going ever deeper into socialism. I read your letter to the editor and, in everything you said I could not agree with you more.

I am a conservative, not to be confused with being a Republican. I love America with a passion. I stand for hard work and just reward in the capitalist system that has been the backbone of America, always. You work hard, you take your chances; maybe you succeed, maybe you don’t. If you don’t, well, pick yourself up and dust yourself off and start all over again.

There seems to be some kind of movement today that is just about against everything our Constitution is about. The lightning speed in which our present administration is destroying the country and seemingly doing everything possible to undermine what America is and has always been is frightening. The most frightening thing about it is how many people think it’s just fine and dandy. Are they brain dead? What is happening here? I hear from many, you for one, which inspired me to write this letter to you. We have to stop this headlong dive into socialism. We have to do something.

Well that is the rub. I am only one old retired person. I can see so readily our American freedoms we have always cherished being undermined by people in power with a, entirely different agenda . Change you can believe in, yes, I do now believe in this change and it terrifies me.

This is my main point, now that I think you know where I stand, what can I do? Where do I go ? Is there a leader out there to guide us and help us to get back our beloved county. I will do whatever I can to bring back and preserve our country.
