Deerfield Valley soccer camp

WILMINGTON- The 28th annual Deerfield Valley soccer camp will be held from Monday, July 31, to Friday, August 4. Camp is held daily from 9 am to 12 pm at the old high school and is open to boys and girls entering grades one through nine. There is also a kindergarten session which runs from 9 to 10:30 am. Campers are separated by grade: grades 1 and 2; grades 3 and 4; and grades 5 through 8 all play within their own groups. The camp staff includes former and current Twin Valley High School players as well as college players. All campers receive a camp T-shirt, appropriate size ball, team photo, and a mid-morning cold snack.

All youngsters are provided with instruction on the techniques and tactics of the game. This instruction includes an introduction to goalkeeping. The daily schedule includes small-sided soccer matches and fun-filled games. Special events such as the carnival and world cup tournament are also included. Day camp tuition is $90 per camper and $80 per each additional child. Tuition for the kindergarten camp is $55.

Deerfield Valley basketball camp

WHITINGHAM- The 21st annual Deerfield Valley basketball camp for boys and girls entering grades five through nine will be held from 1 to 4 pm at the Twin Valley Middle High School, from Monday, June 26, to Friday, June 30. Buddy Hayford is camp director and instruction is provided by him and Chris Brown. Camp staff will include high school and college players.

The daily schedule includes the teaching of skills such as ball handling, shooting, dribbling, defending, passing, screening, and rebounding all taught in a variety of situations. The camp utilizes stations, contests, league play, one on one and three on three competitions, and the camp favorite “Carnival Competition.” All campers receive a custom designed T-shirt and basketball. In addition, campers at TVMHS will have the opportunity to use the NOAH shooting system.

The Wildcat Cub Basketball Camp will be held at the Old School in Wilmington from June 26 to 30. Boys and girls entering preschool to first grade will play from 8:30 to 9:30 am, while those entering grades two through four will play from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. These sessions are an introduction to the basic skills necessary to advance as a prospective player. Camp director is Chris Brown and camp staff will include various high school players.
