WARDSBORO- The Red Barn 10-by-10 Art Auction, scheduled for August 9 under a big tent at the Wardsboro Library at 170 Main Street, is guaranteed to delight art lovers and party-goers alike. Two summers ago, the evening cocktail party and silent auction known as “The Red Barn Affair” was the talk of the town for weeks afterwards, and this year’s reprise of the party, and auction of original art by New England artists, promises to be as well-attended and exciting. The proceeds from the event will help support the town’s library. The event takes place rain or shine.

The 2014 Red Barn Affair fundraiser is an art auction of over fifty original 10”x10” works of art. Distinguished artists from Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and New York were invited to create works of art in their style and genre on small birch boards. There are original paintings, fiber art, watercolors, prints, ceramics, photography, and drawings. A preview of the art and a complete list of artists are online at The entire show is on display through August 7 at the Wardsboro Public Library at 170 Main Street during library hours.

On August 9, the silent auction is from 5 to 6:30 pm, followed by a live auction beginning at 6:30 pm. Bob Sprague, a professional auctioneer from Brattleboro, will conduct the live auction.

Each artist has a bio page at the event, as well. Caryn King of South Newfane donated a giclee print of one of her paintings, a rooster having what she calls “a bad hair day.

Although the art auctions are the highlight of the evening, it’s also guaranteed to be a wonderful summer party with a cash beer and wine bar, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and soft drinks, exciting door prizes, and of course, an opportunity to socialize with friends and neighbors.

The Red Barn 10-by-10 Art Auction is $12 per person at the door. Reservations are not required. The cash bar manned by a bartender from the Roadhouse Restaurant of Wilmington will serve beer and wine from 5 to 7:30 pm.
