TOWNSHEND- The Leland & Gray Players are once again offering a Summer Performing Arts Exploration for young people entering grades 5, 6, 7, and 8. The program opens with a family potluck gathering Sunday, July 27, and runs Monday, July 28 through Friday, August 8, with culminating performances on August 8 and 9.

According to program leaders, there are still openings for the two-week program. A typical 9 am to 3 pm program day will include theatre games, production work and workshops in acting, music, scene design, movement and dance, lighting, costumes and prop-making.

Throughout the two weeks, local artists will lead special workshops in various art forms giving participants a chance to meet many who’ve pursued and excelled in the arts they love. A final show at the end of two weeks, “Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster,” will incorporate all that was learned and give young players a chance to see their new knowledge and skills in action, whether from the lights aloft, backstage or onstage.

The cost for SPAE is $240 total per student for the two weeks. A sliding scale fee is available on request.
