To the Editor,

“Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.” - Herodotus, 503 B.C.E. This is the motto of the U.S. Postal Service.

The rural carriers of the Whitingham Post Office added another element to this centuries-old motto when, in the course of their deliveries, they also picked up more than 200 pounds of food donations for the Deerfield Valley Food Pantry.

The carriers’ care and concern for their neighbors is deeply appreciated by the Board and added significantly to our ability to meet the nutritional needs of our clients. Thanks to the rural carriers.

Sincerely,

Deerfield Valley Food Pantry Board of Directors,

Wilmington
