DOVER- All are invited to attend “The Romantic Ideal,” a free book discussion series sponsored by the Vermont Humanities Council. Discussions will be hosted by the Dover Free Library beginning Wednesday, July 2, at 7 pm.

The characters in these works seek out their ideal of love, happiness, and fulfillment with consequences that are bittersweet, tragic, noble, unconventional, and even comic. The books featured in the series are : July 2, “Madame Bovary,” by Gustave Flaubert; July 23, “Summer,” by Edith Wharton; August 6, “Mating” by Norman Rush; and August 20, “Later Life” by A.R. Gurney.
