DORSET- Dorset Theater Festival is seeking submissions from young writers for the third annual Jean E. Miller Young Playwrights Competition. Each year, DTF asks area students to write and submit original plays for the competition, which are then judged by a panel of nationally recognized playwrights. In the past, this panel has included Theresa Rebeck and Sherry Kramer. The plays are judged in two categories (middle school and high school), and the winning plays from each receive a staged reading, produced at the Dorset Playhouse at the end of the summer season. This year, for the first time, DTF will also be providing a cash prize of $250 to each of the winning playwrights.

Plays should be between 10 and 20 pages, and must be entirely original works, not adaptations. Any genre is welcome, and all submissions are due Saturday, May 31. Students may work alone or in teams. Interested students should contact Ashley Connell, Ashley@dorsettheatrefestival.org, for more information, to find a playwriting mentor, or to submit a play.
