Mrs. Chapin was born in Jacksonville to Neal and Leone (Hager) Faulkner. She was raised in Jacksonville by her father and stepmother, Mary Faulkner.
Mrs. Chapin graduated from Whitingham High School in 1950 and from Becker Jr. College in 1952. She worked for Mary Meyer Mfg. Co. for 22 years and retired from the Windham County Sheriff’s Department.
She and her husband Pete enjoyed square dancing, camping, and bingo. She was involved in scouting when her sons were young. She was a longtime member of the Newbrook Ladies Auxiliary.
She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband Edward Pepin; second husband of 55 years, Malcolm (Pete) Chapin; and her son, Terrence Chapin. She is survived by son Richard Chapin, (Catherine) of Guilford; step-daughter Emma Michaels, of NC; three sisters, Eloise Boyd, of Readsboro; Maxine Morse, of Chelsea; and Sharon Faulkner, of Brattleboro; and one brother, Charles Faulkner, of Lyndonville. She is survived by five grandchildren, Michelle, Melissa, Eric, Sarah, and Scott, and six great-grandchildren.
There is no funeral or calling hours per her request. A celebration of Mrs. Chapin’s life will be held on April 5 at the Newbrook Fire Department from 12 to 3 pm. Burial will be in the spring at Woodlawn Cemetery.
