Mrs. Winter enjoyed working with children as a substitute teacher at Whitingham School and was director of the Jacksonville Community Church Sunday school program, which flourished under her guidance and participation. As a member of the church she served many years as the clerk and she was a 25-year member of the Mayflower Chapter #19 Order of the Eastern Star and the Ladies Oriental Shrine. Mrs. Winter was an avid reader, and she enjoyed crossword puzzles, the company of her grandchildren, and creating and displaying Christmas decorations.
She leaves her husband of 58 years; daughters, Sharon Berry and her husband husband Brett and sons, Dave, Shane, Brett (BJ), and Trevor, of Jacksonville; and Mindi Winter and her son Jay, of Northampton, MA; daughter-in-law, Laura Winter and her son Blake; son-in-law, John Costigan and his daughter Kate; brother, Claude Hunesberger, of Westchester, PA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Joey Winter, in 1996; daughter Jackie Costigan, in 2012; and sister, Rose Meixell.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 30, at 11 am at the Jacksonville Community Church. Members of Mayflower Chapter #19 will conduct their services prior to the start of the service.
