WILMINGTON- Police say three individuals involved in an alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl should be charged by the end of the day.

According to Wilmington Police Chief Joe Szarejko, on Tuesday a caller reported a sexual assault that may or may not have happened in Wilmington. State police initially investigated the allegation. When they determined that the alleged sexual assault occurred in Wilmington, they began a joint investigation with Wilmington police.

Szarejko says three individuals were identified as “persons of interest,” and all three were questioned regarding the incident. A search warrant was obtained for a residence on East Main Street, where the alleged incident had taken place.

Szarejko said he expects to arrest three adults today on charges of furnishing alcohol to a minor, lewd and lascivious conduct, and sexual assault. Police said the names of those charged in connection with the alleged sexual assault and additional details cannot be released until after the arrests.
