To the Editor,

West River Habitat For Humanity has two small lots on Handle Road on which we can build two separeate, freestanding homes similar to the four that are built locally – two in the Haystack Villages of Wilmington, one in West Wardsboro, and one in Whitingham. WRHFH is in need of appropriate applicants.

Habitat houses are not free. The houses have been built for working people, usually two-income families. The truly great thing about Habitat houses is that they require no down payment and the mortgage carries no interest.

It is a fantastic deal, the whole mortgage payment goes into equity. If you decide to sell or move, the money you have paid comes back to you. The down side is that these houses are all built with volunteer labor, so it takes almost a year to complete a house. Call (802) 464 5156 for more details and an application packet.
